What is a spinal adjustment?
An adjustment is a technique used by a chiropractor to move bones that are out of proper alignment. The goal of the adjustment is to improve spinal function and overall health by removing interference to the nervous system. Adjustments are safe for all ages.
What is that noise?
Some adjustments make a popping noise, which is only gas shifting in the joint. The sound is painless and causes no harm.
Can I adjust myself?
The noise you hear when you crack your own neck or back (not recommended!) is not the same as an adjustment. Chiropractic is less concerned with the popping noise and more focused on the thorough chiropractic examination and specific adjustment.
Will I have to see a chiropractor for the rest of my life?
No, but you will feel so great you might want to see a chiropractor for the rest of your life. Do you go to the dentist every six months to clean your teeth and get a check-up? How about oil changes for your car every 3,000 miles? You go because they keep your teeth healthy and your car, your machine, running smoothly. It’s the same for chiropractic, and your body is your machine. Maintenance schedules vary for each individual; visits could be once a month or even once a year.
